The College of Science values the important contributions postdoctoral scholars make to the research that takes place in each laboratory. We aim to foster research excellence for our postdoctoral scholars while equipping them for career success beyond their time with us.

With a focus on postdoctoral scholar career training beyond the basics, Professor Patricia Champion in the Department of Biological Sciences has been appointed to serve as Director of Postdoctoral Studies in the College of Science.

In this role, Champion creates a training curriculum for postdoctoral scholars that provides skills to help them thrive in their future careers. Champion coordinates postdoctoral career mentoring and serves as an advocate for postdoc issues with faculty and administration leadership.

Champion helps shepherd College of Science Postdoctoral Scholars across five departments through their time at Notre Dame, ensuring they are getting the most out of the experience. This includes recruiting and coordinating faculty who will present career development modules and mentor the postdoctoral scholars.
